Cookie Policy
This policy covers what inRhythm stores in your browser when you visit this website (inrhythm.me) or use the app (app.inrhythm.me). Our full data practices are in the Privacy Policy.
Cookies vs. browser storage
Traditional cookies are small files sent between your browser and a server. We use very few of those. Most of what we store is kept in your browser's localStorage — a similar mechanism that stays entirely on your device and is never automatically sent to us.
Under UK ePrivacy law, both cookies and localStorage are covered by the same rules. This policy covers both.
What this website stores (inrhythm.me)
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
inrhythm-theme | localStorage | Theme preference. Remembers whether you set light or dark mode. Without it, every page load would flash the wrong theme before the OS setting is read. | Until you clear browser storage |
ph_{key}_posthog | localStorage | Analytics session. PostHog auto-generates an anonymous UUID to track page journeys and button clicks (e.g. whether the demo button was clicked). Contains no personal information — no name, email, or IP address. | 1 year (PostHog default) |
We do not use advertising cookies. We do not use third-party tracking pixels. We do not place cookies from social networks.
What the app stores (app.inrhythm.me)
The app stores your health logs, settings, and session state in localStorage on your device. This data never leaves your device — it is not sent to our servers and we cannot access it.
The app also stores an analytics consent flag. PostHog is only activated in the app after you agree at first use. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Lawful basis
Theme preference: Strictly necessary for correct display — no consent required.
Analytics (PostHog on this website): Legitimate interests. We use anonymous session data to understand how people navigate the marketing site (e.g. which sections are read before signing up). No health data is involved and the data is not linked to your identity.
How to clear stored data
You can remove everything inRhythm has stored at any time:
- Browser settings: Clear site data for inrhythm.me and app.inrhythm.me in your browser's privacy or storage settings.
- In the app: Settings → Clear data removes all app localStorage including health logs.
- Incognito / private mode: Nothing persists across sessions in private browsing.
Clearing storage resets your theme preference and generates a new anonymous PostHog UUID on your next visit.
Changes
We will update this policy if we add new storage. Material changes will be noted in the app.
